Nicaragua is one of Latin America’s poorest countries and suffers from high unemployment rates and a large amount of debt. The official currency of Nicaragua is the Nicaraguan Córdoba and 1 USD is equal to 36.70 Córdoba. The GDP (Gross Domestic Product)  per capita in Nicaragua was last recorded at 2,045.54 USD or 75,222.42 Córdoba in 2022. This compared to Honduras, whose GDP is 2,771.72 USD, or 101,926.87 Córdoba and Guatemala whose GDP is 5,025.54 USD or 184,808.55 Córdoba. Three major imports of Nicaragua include petroleum, clothing, and medicines. And three major exports are gold, coffee, and beef. Some major companies in Nicaragua include Atlantic Airlines, Flor de Caña, and Tip-Top Restaurant. Almost all of these companies are run by the locals of Nicaragua who do so much to see their country succeed. Some major industries in Nicaragua are construction, mining, fisheries, and general commerce. Fishing is a tradition to many families in Nicaragua because of how fresh the people want their food to be. Nicaragua has a mixed economic system which includes a variety of private freedom, and government regulation. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the area of Central and South America compared to other countries.
