There are lots of different species and animals that are inhabiting the rainforests, islands, and different environments of Nicaragua. Some of the animals that live in the wet and humid rainforests in Nicaragua are jaguars, monkeys, lizards, toads, frogs, and insects. And some of the animals that live in the rest of Nicaragua are pumas, ocelots, margays, deer, eagles, parrots, lots of different reptiles, and fish. The number of these animals are rapidly decreasing because of hunting and global warming which is affecting the amount of food in Nicaragua. This is because many people in Nicaragua eat things like fish on a daily basis so the decrease in fish is negatively impacting the people.
The increasing amount of Human Footprint in the country is making the forests, and oceans suffer. Nicaragua has had the biggest footprint in South and Central America for about a decade. Forests covering more than 1 ⁄ 3 of the country, are losing a lot of elevation and also rainfall, which the animals and people need to survive. Nicaragua’s forests contain valuable cedar, mahogany, and pine timber as well as quebracho (axbreaker), guaiacum (a type of ironwood), guapinol (which yields resin), and medlar (which produces a crab-apple-like fruit). Some common plants in Nicaragua are the False Christmas Cactus, Holywood, Cardboard Palm, and Bullhorn Acacia.
